Cuba Readies Tourist Facilities after Hurricane

Havana, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuban authorities are striving to ready tourist facilities damaged by Hurricane Sandy for the high winter season, as damages are being assessed.
"We have made a firm commitment to make a rapid assessment of damages to take advantage of the environment and rely on the full strength of Santiago de Cuba residents in the recovery efforts, said Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero during a visit to former Hotel Bucanero, razed to the ground by the hurricane.

"We cannot say that this is over and will remain as it is now," said Marrero referring to reconstruction work being carried out to restore tourism in the province, the second most populated and the worst hit by Hurricane Sandy.


La Habana, 30 oct (PL) Las autoridades cubanas están tratando de que las instalaciones turísticas dañadas por el huracán Sandy esten listas para la temporada alta de invierno, ya que los daños están siendo evaluados.

"Hemos hecho un compromiso en firme para realizar una evaluación rápida de los daños para aprovechar el medio ambiente y contar con toda la fuerza residentes  de Santiago de Cuba en los esfuerzos de recuperación, dijo el ministro de Turismo, Manuel Marrero, durante una visita al ex Bucanero Hotel, arrasado por el huracán...
