Castro regime cuts off all communications between hunger-striking political prisoner Ernesto Borges and his family

Cardinal Jaime Ortega last week met with Ernesto Borges, a political prisoner on hunger strike since early February to demand his freedom.
That same day, authorities cut off all communication between Borges and his family, according to the prisoner's father, Raul Borges.
Was it only a coincidence? Was it an attempt by the regime to up the pressure on a recalcitrant prisoner?
Or was it something much more nefarious, part of a manuevering by Ortega, in advance of Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the island later this month, to strike a deal with the Castro regime to bolster his clout at the expense of a political prisoner.
After all, it wouldn't be the first time that Cardinal Ortega looked after No. 1.
The answer, said Raul Borges, perhaps lies in the conservation between his son and the cardinal.
"Only the cardinal, Ernesto and the political police, which monitors all such conversations, knows," Borges said.
