On a day like today two years ago, Cuban human rights activist Orlando Zapata Tamayo was murdered by the Castro dictatorship. While the brutal Cuban regime was able to silence Orlando, they have not been able to silence his message and the message of thousands like him in Cuba. It is a message of freedom, of liberty, of dignity, that no dictatorship, no matter how brutal or vile, can suppress or eliminate. It is a message written in the hearts of men like Zapata Tamayo and even in death, a message that can be heard around the world.
On a day like today, a brave and humble man gave his life seeking not only his own freedom, but the freedom of his people and his country. A sacrifice that will forever be remembered, and a memory that will forever be revered.
