Background (Preamble):
Es importante que apoyemos esta petición como forma de contribuir a que los cubanos recuperen sus derechos civiles.
Santo Padre, Benedicto XVI,
Los abajo firmantes apelamos a la generosidad de su Santidad, Papa Benedicto XVI, para pedirle que respalde durante su visita a Cuba un pedido de justicia para los cubanos:
1.- Que cesen la represión, las vejaciones y las golpizas contra las Damas de Blanco y demás disidentes en Cuba.
2.- El derecho de los cubanos a la libertad de expresión y asociación, sin que sean agredidos y encarcelados porque su opinión sea diferente a la del gobierno.
En 1998, su Santidad Juan Pablo II visitó la Isla y pidió públicamente que “Cuba se abra al mundo y el mundo se abra a Cuba”. 14 años después, todavía vigentes las mismas violaciones y restricciones de movimiento y expresión establecidas por el gobierno, hacemos este pedido para que la paz y el amor imperen en nuestro país:
“QUE CUBA SE ABRA A LOS CUBANOS”.
Nos atrevemos a pedirle a su Santidad que lo apoye públicamente y que se reúna con las Damas de Blanco y otros miembros de la disidencia durante su visita a Cuba.

"THAT IS OPEN TO CUBA CUBA".
